As the year comes to a close, Illinois state legislators are preparing for their lame duck session next week.

Governor Pat Quinn is floating an idea to possibly borrow up to $15 billion dollars to try and get the state out of its budget hole.

Many lawmakers either haven't heard the specifics yet or think there needs to be more cuts and discussion about current spending patterns at the state level.

Sen. John Sullivan said, "We can't continue to go down on the same road that we are at . Some point in time we have to make some really difficult decisions. Are we going to cut spending dramatically or are we going to raise some additional revenue. Or are we going to do a combination of both . I think that's what we need to be looking at."

"We want to solve the states crisis and we have to work together," said Rep. Jil Tracy, "And just to throw out plans of we're going to do this and not give us the details is a little - not a well thought plan."

Lawmakers go back into session next Monday January 3rd as a lame duck session.

Then on January 11th, state representatives and state senators will be sworn into office for the next session of the Illinois General Assembly
