Coalition formed to start the process of revamping Main Street
WARSAW, ILL. -- A newly formed group in Warsaw has a bright vision for the future of its town.
The Warsaw Community Coalition was developed to beautify the town's Main Street.
One of the first projects is to rid the street of dilapidated properties.
Some of the properties have been abandoned for several years and have actually been barricaded to keep citizens safe.
Tiffany Murphy is a member of the coalition.
She says the coalition hopes to get Warsaw's Main Street to look like one cohesive unit rather than something that was lost in the 40's.
"We're empowered by passion of the quality of life that we have in Warsaw. It's a fantastic community, the people are wonderful, the town really is a diamond in the rough and we want to make it a jewel," said Murphy.
Murphy says it's going to be a chore getting ahold of all the building owners and getting through the "red tape" to tear the buildings down.
But she says that is the first step to getting Warsaw to its full potential.
