Strong sales have pushed the Mega Millions jackpot even higher.  The Tuesday night jackpot is now worth $355 million, the second-highest jackpot ever offered in the multi-state game.   The cash value for the new jackpot is $224.2 million.

“If you want to buy a ticket, I would advise you to do so early to avoid long lines,” said May Scheve Reardon, executive director for the Missouri Lottery.  “Players in Missouri can buy Mega Millions tickets up to 8:59 p.m. tonight.”

“I also want to remind players to play responsibly,” said Reardon.  “It only takes $1 to win.  Please play within your means.”

Reardon said players should sign the back of their tickets after they purchase them, and to put them in a safe place until they can check them.

If this jackpot is won in Missouri, it would be the largest prize won to date.  Currently, the largest prize ever won in Missouri was a Powerball ticket worth $258.5 million won last April by a man from Marshall.

Since Missouri started offering the Mega Millions game, 10 Missouri Lottery players have won prizes of $250,000 or more by matching five white-ball numbers, including a $1 million prize claimed by a Mansfield man in April.
