QUINCY, ILL. -- The Board of Directors of the Quincy Regional Crime Stoppers has released the statistics for 2010.
A total of 463 calls were recorded from the Crime Stoppers hotline. From those calls, 66 cases were brought before the board to be voted on for a reward.
Tipsters collected more than 87 hundred dollars for information that lead to an arrest.
They have already made six arrests this year and have rewarded almost one thousand dollars.
"We get calls everyday, we get tips everyday and it's just a matter of finding time in our busy schedules to look into them. It seems like when we do, we usually have a good turn out," said Co-coordinator Deputy Adam Goehl.
Since its inception in February of 1997, a total of 4,188 calls have been received from the Crime Stoppers hotline number. This resulted in a total of 1,012 cases being solved and the arrest of 1,142 individuals.
The Board of Directors has approved a total of $112,310.00 in rewards since 1997. Property and Illegal Drugs in the amount of $210,491.00 has also been recovered.
Crime Stoppers has been very successful since its inception on February 14th, 1997. This would not have happened without the support of numerous volunteers, the media, law enforcement, and especially the public who has taken the time to call Crime Stoppers with information and, support the process though charitable contributions. Crime Stoppers is proof that a community can do something to crack down on crime, and it pays!
