Illinois tax hike plan unveiled; House consideration possible this weekend

Legislative leaders say a hike in the state income tax, coupled with $1 per pack in higher cigarette taxes and additional borrowing, will wipe out the state deficit and send more money to schools.

Ebelsheiser sentenced to 12 years

The Oskaloosa Herald's Duane Nollen reports:

Dr. Jason Ebelsheiser was sentenced to a total of 12 years in prison Thursday afternoon in Mahaska County District Court.  Ebelsheiser was convicted of four charges on Oct. 29, 2010. He was convicted of third-degree sexual abuse, a class C felony; two counts of assault with intent to commit sexual abuse; and one count of tampering with records.
