KEOKUK, IOWA -- The city of Keokuk expects to sign a contract this week completing the sale of the old depot building to the city.

For the past several weeks, city crews have cleared brush and vegetation from around the building.

Mayor Tom Marion says besides buying the building for a dollar, the city also leased the property around the depot for the same price in hopes of tying in the depot to the rest of the riverfront.
