Mail found scattered along highway from Maryland Heights to Jefferson County

If you're looking for something to arrive in the mail, you might want to keep a close eye on it. Authorities say mail got accidentally scattered across 65 miles of interstates in Missouri.

(KMOV) The Missouri Highway Patrol says parcels of mail were found scattered on I-270. Pieces and boxes of mail reportedly reached from Maryland Heights to I-55 in Jefferson County.

U.S. Postal Inspector Dan Taylor says the mail came from a contractor's truck, who was taking the mail on a long haul from St. Louis to Memphis for the U.S. Postal Service. A door was either left open or somehow opened during the drive.

The Highway Patrol had eight patrols between the two points picking up the mail, most of which was collected by 9:30 a.m. Sunday.
