QUINCY, ILL. -- Red kettles and direct mail helped push the Quincy Salvation Army's Christmas campaign over its goal.

Donations came in at $349,773.

Major Alan Wurtz and campaign chairs Ross and Sherry Centanni made the announcement early Tuesday morning.

This is a major accomplishment in a year where more people than ever are struggling fincancially.

The Quincy Salvation Army is also watching progress of its Kroc Center, a multi-use facility being built at 5th and Broadway in Quincy.

Money from the Christmas campaign goes directly to support the Salvation Army's programs and services, not support of the Kroc Center.

The 2010 goal for the Christmas campaign was $335,000.
