Will buy a box of cookies for Operation Cookie Share to troops who visit in person

MACOMB, ILL. -- A Macomb woman is trying to get Girl Scouts back to the basics.

Cathy Early is an insurance agent in Macomb.

She says many troops now-a-days are not getting the full effect of what Girl Scouts are all about.

Rather than having parents take their troops cookie sale sheets to work to sell them, Early says the troops should be making the sales themselves.

Now she has an offer they can't refuse.

The first ten girl scout troops that come see her in person to sell cookies, she will buy one box from them to go towards Operation Cookie Share, that's a program that allows people to purchase cookies to be sent to US troops over seas.

"Girl Scouts are all about developing character and caring and leaders for tomorrow and I think that one of the best ways that scouts can do that is to actually come and ask people to buy the box of cookies themselves. So I'm trying to encourage and reward that," said Early.

Early says once she posted her idea on facebook, several of her friends said they were going to do the same thing.
