HANNIBAL, MO. -- The Hannibal school district is embarking on the biggest building campaign in four years, and it's doing so with a local contractor and no tax increase.
The Hannibal Courier-Post reports the school board Wednesdsay unanimously approved a bid of $13.4 million from Bleigh Construction of Hannibal to replace Mark Twain Elementary and build a first-ever Early Childhood Center.
The next step is a meeting between district administrators and Bleigh to prepare for a groundbreaking.
The new grade school and the early childhood center should be done by the fall of next year.
