QUINCY, ILL. -- A water main break has occured at 20th and Oak Street in Quincy.

In order to make the necessary repairs, the following  areas will experience an immediate interruption in water service for a 6 to 8 hour period:

Oak St. from 18th to 20th
20th St. from Oak to College

Quincy University has issued an advisory to all students because they shut down the water supply to the Health and Fitness Center and Facilities Management building at Quincy University for the remainder of the day. Fitness classes at the Health and Fitness Center remain on schedule although showers and restrooms are unavailable Wednesday.

Once service has been restored, a 48-hour boil order will be in effect.
