The most recent  report shows that tourism in the Quincy area wasn't affected too much by a struggling economy.

The Quincy Area Convention & Visitors Bureau 2010 Annual Report was released Tuesday, January 25th.

Executive Director Holly Cain says tourism was down in big cities across the country this year, but Quincy's numbers dropped only slightly.

She says, new events and new revenue sources have helped out.

"Well we actually did see some record hotel/motel taxes and that's our best indicator in tourism, because we're seeing those dollars coming in. They're being collected and that's a good indicator of where we're standing," said Cain.

Cain is very optimistic for 2011.

She says advertising and marketing will be focused closer to home as people may be looking to scale back their vacations to save some cash.
