Probation possible for man after killing cat

BURLINGTON, IOWA -- A Davnville Iowa man is scheduled to be sentenced next month after pleading guilty to charges that he hanged his family cat and killed his dog.

Billy Lee Kracht pleaded guilty the the charges of animal torture and animal neglect.

Under the plea deal reached with Des Moines County Iowa prosecutors, Kracht will get probation and have his three year prison sentenced suspended.

The incident happened last summer, when Kracht told sheriff deputies that he got angry when the cat got out of his cage and that he fatally injured his dog when he fell on it.

His sentencing is set for February 18th.
