ADAMS COUNTY, ILL. -- Meanwhile county roads throughout the Tri-States are looking better.
We talked with Adams County Emergency Management Director John Simon several times Thursday.
Simon says things are relatively good, considering the more than 20 inches of snow we received.
But even with all the work going on, some people were still snowed in. Township and village crews were overwhelmed with the sheer number of roads and snow amounts.
People we talked to say much of the progress made on area roads was thanks to neighbors helping neighbors.
Residents in villages like Camp Point remembered why they chose life in a small town. Neighboring farmers from the country came to the rescue with tractors and equipment.
Camp Point resident John Dobson said, "Everyone in town saw the farmers come into town and it's all about getting things rolling again."
These good Samaritans with big wheels helped scoop streets and driveways.
Meanwhile, others came to the aid of their country cousins like Amanda Lashbrook. She had been stranded in her home since Monday afternoon.
Lashbrook said, "I've been here three days and was getting cabin fever."
Her neighbor Charles Shrader drove his tractor down her lane, breaking a path for her through the snow.
Shrader said, "Without having something four-wheel drive you just can't get out."
Lashbrook said, "I was so excited when I saw someone come around the corner."
The same welcome relief felt by many.
