Iowa man accused of killing brother

ALBIA, IOWA (AP) -- Bond has been set at $2 million for an Albia, Iowa man accused of fatally shooting his younger brother.
     
The Monroe County Sheriff's Office says Richard Davis, 73,  is being held on a charge of first-degree murder in the death of  Gary Davis, 60, a local doctor.

He was arraigned Sunday.
     
The sheriff's office said Gary Davis was shot several times in his Albia driveway just after noon Saturday and died at a hospital.

Richard Davis was arrested about an hour after the shooting.

No number was listed for Richard Davis. Online court records available Sunday didn't reflect the murder charge against him or list his attorney.

A Heartland man is behind bars for allegedly murdering his own brother.

According to authorities, the Monroe County 911 Center received a call of a shooting at 113 Linden Lane in Albia just after noon Saturday.

When law enforcement arrived, they found Gary Davis, 60, suffering from multiple injuries. Davis was taken to Monroe County Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Shortly after, authorities arrested Richard Davis, 73 of Albia. He has been charged with Murder in the First Degree. Richard Davis is the victim's brother.

Richard Davis is in custody at the Monroe County Jail.

The alleged murder is under investigation by the Albia Police Department and Monroe County Sheriff's Office, along with the Clarke County Sheriff's Office, Department of Transportation, Iowa State Patrol, and the Division of Criminal Investigation.
