TRI-STATES -- UPDATED: February 14 at 7:00 a.m.

Gas prices continue to be just above $3 a gallon.

Tillie Perkins posted on our facebook book page that gas in Hannibal is $2.94 and Sunbeam bread at walmart is $1.54!

Hannibal is one of the few communities that gas remains below $3 a gallon.

Bread on the other hand seems to be the same around the area Amanda White said on facebook that bread around griggsville is about 1.35 a loaf.

We'll continue to monitor these prices and bring you our findings.

Energy prices and bread prices are primary concerns that could have an affect on people in the U.S.

Unfortunately, the cost of food played a role in the uprisings in the Middle East. As the turmoil continues, that cost is being driven higher and higher. Per the Associate Press, wheat prices already jumped 22 percent during December and January.

Tom Raum with the Associated Press stated that the unrest has also already affected U.S. energy prices.  The average price for a gallon of regular gasoline in the U.S. was $3.12 on Friday - up 2.4 cents just in the past week. Analysts expect prices to stay above $3 a gallon - the highest since 2008 - and probably go higher until the conflict in Egypt is resolved and Mideast tensions ease.
