KEOKUK, IA. -- Keokuk is getting some much needed help from the state to continue digging out from Winter Storm 2011

An engineer from the public works department told KHQA all the roads are passable now.

After an emergency declaration was declared in Lee County, Keokuk applied to get five days of help from the state.

That has been granted and I-DOT crews have been helping city crews.

"We're out in full force. We've got 6 trucks out there, they're working every day trying to get the snow pushed back to the curb," said Keokuk Public Works Deparment Engineer Technician Mark Bousselot.

The city has asked to get another ten days of assistance from I-DOT crews and is waiting for a response from the state.
