A Bowling Green man who allegedly had sex with a 16-year-old girl now is accused of trying to get her to drop her claim.
The Hannibal Courier-Post reports 28-year-old Walter Daniels Jr. is charged with felony statutory rape and tampering with a victim.
He was arraigned Wednesday on the tampering charge. Daniels allegedly had consensual sex with the girl on March 1 of last year.
Authorities say that while in custody at the sheriff's department, he allegedly called the victim and tried to get her to have the charges dropped.
If convicted, Daniels could get 14 years in prison.
