MACOMB, ILL. -- Meanwhile the city of Macomb is also doing well budget-wise even after handling nearly 23 million cubic feet of snow.

Public Works Director Walter Burnett says the city was conservative and under-budget *before* the snow storm last week.

Plows ran through the night and kept emergency routes open through the storm.

That meant some employee overtime.

The city ran into an *unexpected* cost when clearing the downtown area.

Heavy snow caused the city to contract out the snow removal there for $23 thousand in order to get businesses back open.

The city is doing okay with salt supplies.

Interestingly enough, not a lot of salt was used to fight this last storm...due to the snow being dry and not sticking right away.
