The Lee County Sheriff's Department is warning citizens of a possible scam.

The department got some information that someone has been making fake phone calls posing as an employee from the Lee County Health Department.

This KHQA Safe Family Consumer Report shows you how the scam works.

The calls are being made to restaurants on Saturdays and Sundays regarding an upcoming inspection.

The caller asks for credit card information.

It's important to know that the Lee County Health Department does not call ahead to warn restaurants of inspections and does not place any phone calls on the weekends.

The sheriff's department encourages all citizens to guard their personal information and do not provide it to anyone over the phone.
