HANNIBAL, MO. -- Weather permitting, the South Fabius River Bridge on Route E south of Newark will be closed on Friday, March 4 for surface repairs from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Alternate routes of travel should be taken over Routes 156 and 15.
Some areas of the roadway will remain open to residential traffic only; all other traffic must take alternate routes during this time. The 53-year-old bridge is scheduled for replacement this summer through MoDOT's Safe and Sound Bridge program.
All roadwork is posted on the traveler information map. Those traveling and commuting public are encouraged to check the online map at www.modot.org daily for new work zones.
