QUINCY, ILL. -- It's not Christmas, but for many people it's just as exciting.

The Girl Scout cookies have arrived and ready for pick up.

Locally 6,500  cases will be delivered which equals 78,000 boxes of cookies, that is a slight increase from last year.

Girl Scout leaders spent Monday loading up cars with hundreds of boxes of your favorite cookies.

The Girls Scouts are working in partnership with State Farm's Adopt-a-Soldier program.

In the program, employees donate items such as food, toiletries, books and puzzles (plus letters and cards of support) to service members deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Girl Scout cookies donated by central Illinoisans will be added to that payload.

So far more then one hundred boxes of cookies are scheduled for shipment to the military.

If you have not donated yet you still have time to donate to a soldier.
