QUINCY, ILL. -- Get your walking shoes ready. The Relay for Life of Adams County is fast approaching. Sunday, the Blessing Cancer Center hosted it's second annual fundraiser at the Knights of Columbus. The group's team name? The Radiators.
Guests participated in a silent auction, raffles and for the kids--Nascar simulators. The most important message was geared toward the children not able to attend tonight.
"The American Cancer Society, they sponsor a lot for the Blessing Cancer Center themselves, and it's important for us to get the word out for education for cancer patient awareness, and this is one way that we can do it, and feel like we're doing something small to help out," said Cathy Brogdon with Blessing Cancer Center.
"We want to get as much money as we possibly can to benefit cancer patients, because they are already going through so much and any benefit that could come their way would be great,"said Gina Eickelschulte with Blessing's radiation therapy team.
Last year the team raised $3,750. All proceeds are donated to the American Cancer Society Relay for Life of Adams County. This year's Relay for Life runs June 3rd through the 4th at Flinn Memorial Stadium.
