HANNIBAL, MO. -- Hannibal Police got a call that a registered sex offender was viewing what appeared to be child pornography on a Hannibal Public Library computer.

Plain clothes detectives went to the library and watched the subject for about an hour.  During this time they witnessed the subject view and download several images of what appeared to be compromising photos of young children.

The Officers approached the subject, 44-year-old Gary W. Martin of Hannibal, and after a short struggle, placed him under arrest.

Martin was taken to the police department and booked on charges of Possession of Child Pornography and Resist Arrest and placed on a 24-hour hold in the Marion County Jail.

Officers also searched Martin's residence and seized several computer discs and video tapes.

Hannibal Detectives are continuing to investigate this case and Martin remains in the Marion County Jail.
