QUINCY, ILL. -- Quincy Police Detective Tom Liesen called KHQA Friday to tell us he's gotten calls from concerned citizens who got a letter like this in the mail.

The letter offers insurance type coverage on water lines from the street to your house.

It's $5.99 a month, but Detective Liesen says to be wary.

Detective Tom Liesen says, "the biggest problem I see with it is with the exclusions. They limit the breakdown due to construction, due to thawing, due to normal wear and tear of the pipe. What will they cover if it does break down?"

Detective Liesen contacted the company and it was very secretive.

He also found on line that there is a rip off alert about this company.

Liesen says if you get this letter, just toss it.
