SCHUYLER COUNTY, ILL. -- UPDATED:  April 18 at 2:28 a.m.

The Civil Right Agenda, a lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender organization in Illinois, is happy with a Schuyler County Board decision to require diversity training following a local Facebook scandal.

ChicagoPride.com reported that the board voted unanimously to require training for all County department heads, employees, and all members of the board, following discriminatry Facebook remarks made by Schuyler County Sheriff Don Schieferdecker.

A spokesperson for the advocacy group likened Schieferdecker's Facebook post to "bullying and cyber-bullying."

TCRA continues to call for the Sheriff's resignation.  They have launched an online petition through Change.org.

A statewide civil rights group is calling for the Schuyler County, Illinois sheriff to step down.

The Civil Rights Agenda is a statewide lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender organization in Illinois.

The group is offended by the Facebook post sheriff Don Scheiferdecker made last week.

This is the first time the group has called for someone's resignation.

Myjournalcourier.com reported that the organization was founded about a year ago to do educational and political outreach in Illinois.  The Jacksonville paper also wrote that Executive Director Anthony Martinez said their group was instrumental in passing a civil union bill signed by Gov. Pat Quinn in January.

Sheriff Scheiferdecker has since deleted his Facebook account.
