QUINCY, ILL. -- Quincy locals might say they had the time of their life Saturday evening.
Hundreds of supporters turned out for a benefit for Brian Byquist, the assistant manager at Thyme Square Café. Byquist's battling testicular cancer and with that overwhelming medical bills.
Saturday, the Historic Quincy Business District partnered with area businesses creating the "Thyme of our Life" Benefit.
Guests were invited to participate in a poker tournament, pub crawl and karaoke night. Byquist says about 30 friends and family from his hometown of Bloomington also showed up Saturday.
"It makes me feel great, you know being a member of the community, seeing this kind of support, it's really inspiring.Makes me feel really grateful. Makes me reaffirm the fact that I made the right choice in moving here and opening a new business, so we're just really happy with the turnout," said Byquist.
The proceeds from this benefit will help offset Byquist's medical costs.
