KEOKUK, IOWA -- -Updated November 22, 2011-
When the Green Tambourine building in Keokuk collapsed in 2009, some historic arches were uncovered in the cleanup.
There was a lot of talk of what to do with them.
The Keokuk Daily Gate City reports there is now a plan on how to fill the hole that would preserve the arches. The city agreed to fill in the area with silica sand so that any future development/preservation of the arches would be possible.
An early attempt to preserve the arches failed when volunteers couldn't get the money.

It looks like the historic arches at the site of the former Green Tambourine building in Keokuk will be covered up in the near future.
The historic arches were discovered back in the summer of 2009, when the multi-story building collapsed and the debris was cleared from the site.
The group that was trying to save the arches has come to the conclusion that their effort has ended.
There are some recommendations the Save Keokuk's Buried Treasure group would like the city to follow before the empty lot is filled in later this year.
