CANTON, MO. -- Bullying is a hot topic these days, and getting it to stop can be rather difficult, but one man hopes to make a difference.
Kevin Horner is part of the Kansas Bully Prevention Program.
He visited elementary students in Canton this afternoon.
His anti-bullying presentation is called 'speaking up for those who won't speak up for themselves.
He uses ventriloquism and illusion to bring home his point.
Horner says, "I think the earlier that you can build the foundation for that message of respecting others, standing up for others, realizing how the other child feels when they are called names, or picked on, isolated, excluded, hit, kicked, pushed."
Horner is 51, but has had his experience with bullies.
When he was nine, he was chased out into the street by two bullies and he was hit by a car.
He had to spend the next 18 months learning how to walk again.
Then when he was in junior high, he stood by and watched a special needs kid get hit really hard by a bully.
The fact that he stood by and did nothing bothers him to this day.
