QUINCY, ILL. -- Have you filed your taxes? If not, you have till midnight Monday to do so. The deadline usually falls on April 15, but fell on a holiday this year. The IRS extended the date to Monday.

"The last day of taxes is very hectic," said Carrie Bareis, the owner of Liberty Tax Services in Quincy.

There were still plenty of people coming through Liberty Tax Services in Quincy Monday afternoon.

"I had them done last week. Had them ready, but I came in today and going to file them," said Michael Stout, a last minute filer.

Stout says he usually files his taxes on the very last day.

"It always works for me. I bring my taxes in, get them done and mail them in," said Stout.

With only hours left before the midnight deadline, staff were on hand to handle big and small tax returns.

"Being last minute right now, we've got a lot of people coming in with some big returns that aren't so fast, but we get them done. It's tough," said Jeremy Worden, the marketing manager with Liberty Tax Services.

"We have preparers ready and and yes absolutely you can get your taxes all taken care of today and we do e-file returns. So even if you come after the post office has closed, we have a way to get it to the IRS on time, so you can file a timely return or extension. We're staying here till midnight tonight in all of our offices," said Bareis.

"A simple return they can plan on in about half an hour of actual face to face contact time," said Mark Pegler, a Liberty tax preparer.

If there's a downfall at all to filing your taxes last , it's this: "If there was an extra deduction, or credit you're entitled to, sometimes that makes the client be limited on time to collect that information.and get that savings on their tax return," said Bareis.

Liberty Tax Services is already looking ahead for the next tax season.

"We're already announcing trainings for tax preparers, tax school, and keeping up on changes that are occuring for 2011," said Bareis.

"This is my first year and I've just loved it. It's been excellent, I'm looking forward to next year already," said Pegler.

We'll check back with him in a couple years.
