Broadband internet comes to Ralls County

NEW LONDON, MO. -- Missouri governor Jay Nixon will be in Ralls County Thursday to help the Ralls County Electric Cooperative mark the completion of the initial phase of the new broadband internet network.

The project calls for 4,500 homes, businesses, schools, health care facilities and public safety agencies to be connected by May 2013.

The first phase of this project saw 450 miles of fiber optic laid across the state.

This project is being funded with $19.1 million in federal money.
