QUINCY, ILL. -- Teams took to the field Saturday for the Growing Tree Foundations first annual Wiffle Ball Tournament.
Eight teams competed for the grand prize trophy.
The teams each paid $25 dollars but that money goes back to a good cause.
All of the proceeds this year will go to the Madonna House.
Josh Klitz with Crawdad's Classics says, "The community is good enough to support us, and our products, so the least we can do is give back to the people that support us. In this case, the Madonna House needed it."
The Growing Tree Foundation is just now getting its start in Quincy.
It consists of Lickins Barbeque, Crawdad's Classics, and Red Cactus -- all local companies.
They form the roots of the tree.
The branches are different businesses around the area like Hy-Vee, Roly Poly and BOS Bank.
Klitz says, "Everytime we help a sponsorship, we want to add their name to our branches of our tree and watch our tree go upwards. The idea is just to gain sponsorship, help support the tree, and just add some people who need help and keep growing it."
The Growing Tree Foundation hopes to have this tournament every year and donate the money to a different charity.
