QUINCY, ILL. -- When disaster strikes a community, the Red Cross is always there.

Thursday they showed off one of the disaster relief trailers while in Quincy.  Called "Henry's Kitchen," this 53-foot trailer is sent to disaster areas to help serve meals to those that need it.  "Henry" was named in memory of Henry Fenn, a longtime Red Cross volunteer who was also an advocate for a mobile kitchen.

One of only 2 in the country, he already has served 1 million meals since being stationed in Peoria for the past 7 years.

"Why Peoria" you might ask?  On it's website, Red Cross of Central Illinois says that, "the National American Red Cross wants Henry strategically located where he can deploy quickly to disaster sites across the country."

This big, bad kitchen can feed 10 to 25 thousand meals at a time.

So far the trailer has not been called to Joplin, Missouri but they are ready to go when the call comes in.

The Red Cross will be recruiting qualified, local CDL drivers to build up a team of drivers in order to ensure that Henry is always ready to be deployed wherever he is needed here at home or across the country.  If you are interested in volunteering at the Red Cross with Henry, please contact Alyssa Pollock via email.
