QUINCY, ILL. -- Relay for Life kicks off Friday evening at Flinn Stadium.
The Opening Ceremony starts at 6:00 p.m. The Survivor Lap, featuring Adams County cancer survivors celebrating their lives, occurs at 6:30 p.m., followed by a Caregivers Lap.
Luminaria sales, special candles available for purchase to honor a cancer survivor or remember someone who lost their battle with cancer, continue until 7:00 p.m.
Luminaries will be lit and the names of those being honored will be read at 9:00 p.m. Teams will be selling food and other items throughout the Relay to raise money for cancer services and research. Entertainment will also be featured throughout the event.
The Relay continues throughout the night, with more than 500 representatives of 43 Relay teams walking the Flinn Stadium track to raise money and awareness until the Closing Ceremony at 5:30 a.m, Saturday, June 4. The teams' effort indicates that cancer never rests, and neither do those working to support patients and their families and find a cure.
