MACOMB, ILL. -- The City of Macomb is going to have to alter their summer street construction and renovation program a bit to help cover some additional costs that came up with the University Drive project.
The original project cost was set at $935,000.
But because the contractor found additional problems on parts of University Drive, the project is now going to cost just over a million dollars.
"We knew that was going to be some additional work we would uncover once we got milling. That work has been done we've discovered it, assessed it and we've made a decision to allocate about $115,000 more to the project to do what we think is the right thing out there," said Mayor Mike Inman.
Inman said one way to offset the extra costs associated with the University Drive project, is the city may consider cutting some of the funds to seal cracks in the streets.
