Some of you have heard about the television reality show called, Shark Tank.
Multi-millionaire business tycoons hear investment proposals from inventors and entrepreneurs on the show, which airs on ABC 7.2.
You might find a Quincy inventor on that show soon.
Tyler Marquardt is a finalist for Shark Tank.
KHQA's Rajah Maples met with him to show you how his invention works.
Tyler Marquardt is a designer by trade, and he has invented a message wheel for hotel rooms that can only be controlled from the inside.
Marquardt said, "Security is a problem with hotels these days. When someone needs to open the door to change the message on the hang tag, they're vulnerable to somebody breaking into their room. The guests also won't be bothered by house-keeping in the morning when their tag was stolen the night before."
Marquardt said his invention would also prevent hotel guests from having to walk to the front desk if their "do not disturb" tag was missing. You might recall the Erin Andrews case, where the ESPN sportscaster was videotaped in a hotel room through a peephole. Marquardt said his invention would prevent anyone from tampering with an eye viewer. He said it could benefit not only hotels, but also hospitals, cruise ships, conference rooms and schools.
Marquardt recently received a call from a casting producer with Shark Tank. He says he was told producers have gone through 10,000 e-mails to calling a select few.
Marquardt said he plans to submit a video of how his invention works to the show this week.
We will continue to follow his invention and bring you more information, so check this story as it develops!
