QUINCY, ILL. -- According to American Pet Products Association, 62% of the U.S. households own a pet.
And taking care of that member of the family can sometimes get expensive.
Medical costs at the vet's office can range from $900 bucks to treat brain cancer in a dog ... to $2,800 to treat intervertebral disk disease in the canine.
Now when it comes to felines, you can expect a cost of around $1,600 to treat the condition known as foreign body ingestion ... or it could cost you $500 to $600 to treat your cat for acute renal failure.
The medical costs add up and now some people are buying health insurance for their pets.
We're going to talk with a local vet about health insurance for your pet and we're also going to visit with someone who decided to go ahead and buy the health insurance plan for their dog.
