LEWISTOWN, ILL. (AP) -- A Macomb man was seriously injured when he allegedly jumped from the car he was driving. 

The Fulton County Sheriff's Department tells WGIL Radio that 31-year-old Damon Waughtel was driving on County Highway 5 near Cuba early Sunday when he apparently left the vehicle through the driver's side window.

Authorities say the car's passenger brought the vehicle under control. 

Waughtel was taken to a Canton Hospital and later OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.  There's no word on his condition Monday. 

Authorities say Waughtel was cited for driving under the influence, unlawful transportation of alcohol, reckless driving and operating an uninsured vehicle.  He's due in court in July.
