HANNIBAL, MO. -- Hannibal is watching and waiting as flood waters creep up.

The city is expecting a river crest of more than 23 feet Thursday.

Emergency Management Director John Hark says the city is monitoring nearby Bear Creek as the river rises.  Right now the creek is high.

But when river levels hit 24 feet and higher, Bear Creek starts backing up into the armory area and some industrial areas along the creek.

However Hark says the lower expected crest at 23 feet is good news...unless we get more rain.

You may remember last July, some residents living near Bear Creek had to leave their homes due to rising water.

If you live in the Bear Creek area and have photos or video to share, we would love to see it ... upload it to our Facebook pageuConnect or email it to us at news7@khqa.com.
