PALOMA, ILLINOIS -- Update: Sunday, June 26, 6:00 p.m.

Adams County Coroner Jim Keller has released the name of the victim killed in a train crash Sunday morning. Larry Owens, 73, of Paloma, was pronounced dead at 11:03 a.m.

The Adams County Sherrif's Department and the Adams County Coroner are still investigating the accident.

Adams County authorities are investigating the death of a man in Paloma, Illinois Sunday morning.

Just before 10 a.m., the driver of a Dodge 4-door passenger vehicle began crossing a set of railroad tracks near the intersection of Highway 24 and E. 1500th. Seconds later, a westbound Burlington Northern Freight Train collided with the vehicle on the driver side. The car came to rest on the south side of the tracks. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. His name is being withheld until family members are contacted.

The investigation is still ongoing.
