Crash involving motorcycle results in death

WARREN COUNTY, ILL. -- A traffic crash on Wednesday evening ended in the death of a motorcycle driver.

Matthew E. Gibbs, 26,  of Little York, Illinois, was involved in a crash when a Jeep Cherokee driven by 19-year-old Matthew R. Grubb turned left failing to yield to the motorcycle.

The brakes on the bike Gibbs was riding locked up and he skidded on the roadway.  He was ejected from the bike into the driver's side door of the Jeep.

The driver of the Jeep and his two passengers were all wearing seatbelts and had no injuries.

Gibbs was air lifted to Peoria with a critical leg injury and he passed away at 10 p.m. Wednesday.

Police issued Grubbs a citation.
