Mayor updates Quincy City Council on storm damage
QUINCY, ILL. -- Be careful at Quincy intersections -- that's the message from Mayor John Spring.
Monday night, he told the city council there have been quite a few accidents at intersections throughout the city.
That's because storm debris has blocked drivers' view in those areas.
Mayor Spring said the city is working diligently to fix the problem, but in the meantime, he recommends caution and patience.
Last week, the Quincy City Council voted against fixing the Quincy Paper Box building at Third and Vermont through part of a court-ordered fix or flatten program.
Mayor Spring told KHQA the city has since taken down the fence around the property.
He said, "The court issued an order. The council chose to ignore the order. We should not have any liability of the building."
The city has suspended the fix or flatten program.
