Here's a KHQA Safe Family Health reminder, whether you want to think about it or not, back to school season will be here soon.
That means some of your kids may need to get their immunizations before school starts.
The Adams County Health Department is recommending getting those vaccinations sooner rather than later.
Jan Hummel says once August hits, the walk in clinic gets pretty busy.
Preschool, Kindergarten, and ninth graders typically require booster shots.
"That will be changing. We encourage the parents of sixth graders to think about getting that tetanus with pertussis booster this year. Of course, we also recommend the Hepatitis A, the Meningitis, the HPV in addition to the requirements of certain age groups," Hummel says.
Jan Hummel also recommends parents be up to date on their immunizations.
Remember a tetanus shot lasts years.
She also points out all adults should get the pertussis, or whooping cough, booster because it was found in Adams County last year.
