Hog confinement fire in Monroe County, Mo.

MONROE COUNTY, MO. -- 1500 hogs died in a fire at a hog confinement in Monroe County Monday afternoon.

KHQA's Jim Whitfield was able to confirm that the fire was on County Road 360, east of Rte. V over the railroad tracks.

The call came in about 12:30, when firefighters from Monroe City got on scene, the fire was burning pretty heavily.

Firefighters from Paris and Madison were called to help.

Crews were on the scene for about two and a half hours.

The building is a complete loss, and the fire was ruled accidental in nature.
