Were they fair or unfair? That is the question
The 2010 census didn't bode well for the state of Illinois.
You'll remember a drop in population lead to the state losing one of its congressional seats.
Governor Quinn has signed and approved new congressional maps, which brought about some legislative changes down state.
We spoke to State Representative Jil Tracy (R - 93rd) about the new maps.
"It was a very unusual redistricting time because for the first time in decades, all of the democratic party controlled every step of the process, whether it's the majority in the house and majority in the state senate and the Governor's Mansion," said Tracy.
Representative Tracy says there is certain state criteria and federal laws that need to be followed when redrawing congressional maps.
She says she has yet to see that criteria.
Lawsuits have been filed saying those processes may not have been followed.
