ADAMS COUNTY, ILL. -- A camping trip turned tragic Sunday night.
The Adams County Sheriff's department recovered the body of 36 year-old Travis Kendrick of Payson from the lake at the Whispering Oaks Camp Ground near Mendon, Illinois.

According to reports, Kendrick who attempted to swim across the lake, went under and did not resurface.
With the help of the Tri-township and Quincy Fire Department dive team the man's body was recovered around 10 p.m. Sunday night.
The incident is still under investigation.
