MONROE CITY, MO. -- A Texas pilot had a close call in Monroe County Monday afternoon.

The Missouri Highway Patrol says Bryan Pender from Midlothian, Texas was flying a 1996 Vans aircraft to an air show in Oshkosh, Wisconsin when his engine quit.

That's when he made an emergency landing in a bean field near the Monroe City Airport.

The highway patrol says Pender is okay.

No one was hurt.
