Smart phones such as Blackberries and iPhones are more susceptible to being hacked than older phones because they are small computers.

Computing-tips.net says that hackers will want your phone either for financial gain, to spy on you or to access your private information.

Some of the key items to think about are:

-  lock your security pass code if you have one
-  make sure your Bluetooth isn't on all the time
-  if you're not using your GPS on the phone disable it
-  turn your phone off when it's not needed
-  keep your phone updated in case your provider releases new hack prevention mechanisms
