MACOMB, ILL. -- After months of construction, University Drive in Macomb is about ready to open ... and just in time for the influx of students coming back for the fall semester at Western Illinois University.
Before the construction started, University Drive was full of potholes and broken up asphalt. But the pavement was milled and new asphalt was laid.
There were also new curbs and gutters poured.
Some extra money was spent on the project, bringing numbers up from the original bid.
We're talking with Macomb mayor Mike Inman about the project and how this will help with traffic through the north portion of the WIU campus Monday.
