ATLAS, MISSOURI -- A popular Tri-State flea market took on damage Friday morning after a fire broke out in its electrical system.
Firefighters from Pleasant Hill, Pittsfield and Louisiana responded to calls of a blaze at the Atlas Flea market.
They arrived to find a fire in the corner of an addition.
As they rushed to the call, Firefighters were concerned about how big the fire would get because of all the merchandise inside. But they say it's how the market was built, that kept the fire from spreading further.
Fire Chief Danny Turner said, "There's a lot of smoke and water damage. If the building had been wood it would have spread much further, but the metal building kept it isolated."
Pleasant Hill Fire Chief Danny Turner says the fire started in the wiring of a fan inside the building.
